Request a copy of the report so that you have it on hand when dealing with creditors to remedy the problem and to verify that what you are saying is true.

Notify Your Financial Institutions

After making your police report, you should contact each financial institution, credit card issuer, or any other company that provided the thief with unauthorized credit, goods or service. Explain the incident to them then cancel credit cards and freeze accounts if necessary.

If any information from a government-issued identification card has been compromised, report the incident right away to the responsible department and follow any additional steps that you may be directed to take.
