The Ministry of Health has officially confirmed case #21 of COVID-19 in the country of Belize. This new case, like those recently announced, is the result of repatriation – this time from Houston. Patient #21 had applied for return to Belize via the repatriation process through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and returned in-country on June 12th via the Philip Goldson International Airport. As has become standard with persons entering the country, this patient was placed in immediate quarantine and testing was done which produced a positive test. This case is again asymptomatic and will be tested again in adherence with established health protocols.
It is known that on Friday, June 12, 2020, twenty-two (22) repatriates entered Belize via the International Airport – fifteen (15) onboard a United Airlines flight and seven (7) via the northern border with Mexico.
