With the scheduled reopening of Belize’s International Airport on August 15, 2020, the Prime Minister of Belize announced a phased re-opening plan for the Tourism sector. The re-opening of the international airport will usher in further travel relaxations and open entry for chartered flights, private aviation and limited re-opening of international leisure travel with approved hotels.
The Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation has also approved enhanced health and safety protocols for hotels which is intended to serve as the foundation for Belize’s “Tourism Gold Standard” recognition program for local hotels, restaurants, and tour operators. This program seeks to enhance health and safety standards for the tourism industry to ensure that both employees and travelers are confident with the cleanliness and safety of local tourism products and services.
