There’s a new location for vehicle inspections in Belize City. The Traffic Department’s inspection for licensing of vehicles has been relocated to the Marion Jones sporting complex. The new location offers services at a safer venue with ample space for parking and contingencies for inclement weather conditions. The new location also offers a more comfortable working environment for staff complete with necessary amenities and additional storage.
There’s also an upgrade to the theory portion of the driver’s test. The Belize Traffic Department launched its E-Testing Program in an effort to increase efficiency. The written portion of the driver’s test is now a fully electronic, multiple-choice-based assessment. Results are generated immediately after completion which expedites the process and is also designed using a question bank system that allows for multiple versions of the test to be issued simultaneously.
Belize City is the first Municipality to explore this form of testing which will later be translated to Spanish and Mandarin to cater to a wider client base. This venture is being driven by innovation and technology as the Council works toward realizing its vision of transforming the city into a modern, smart and sustainable municipality.
